Project Introduction
Sustainable Communities, Inc, a 501c3 not for profit community and affordable housing development agency is building a new construction mixed-use building in downtown Greenwich NY to replace the former historic anchor Wilmarth Building which burned down in February 2022.
The proposed new construction will have 9 apartments with rental limits based on 80% of the area median income, as well as 4 commercial office suites. The building will meet or exceed LEED energy standards and provide better housing options for the walkable quaint downtown area of Greenwich.
The development team for this project includes Michelle DeGarmo, Board President of Sustainable Communities Inc and Liza Rodriguez, RA from TAP, Inc in Troy, NY; BBL Construction Services, Theresa Newton of Positive Communities, LLC. Pre-development costs have been covered to date by Flatley Read, Inc.
The Town and Village of Greenwich as well as Washington County have been instrumental in getting this project off the ground and are highly interested in ensuring the successful addition of new affordable housing units and commercial spaces to meet the ever-growing community needs.
